      1. UNIT 1: The Joy of Listening to Music

        Annotations:

        • LO: Children listen to a range of Musical Genres (based on 'Music of The Month') expressing preferences, likes and dislikes.  Children discuss in pairs and threes, what kind of images the music creates in their imagination.
        1. UNIT 2: The XYLOPHONE (A) & The 8 Note Octave

          Annotations:

          • The Children will study the musical scale of C Major using well known melodies, nursery rhymes and melodic devices to begin to write and arrange simple melodies. they will also be introduced to simple standard and non-standard notation
          1. PITCH

            Annotations:

            • High and Low: demonstrated and practiced visually with their 8 note xylophone, the song, High. Low, Giggle in the middle and using the bass guitar, the classical guitar and the ukulele

            1. UNIT 3: The Joy of Listening to Music

              Annotations:

                • lThe children will learn about pitch and volume through hands-on experience of playing the xylophone and metallophone. They will compose, improvise experiment with non-standard notation

                                Annotations:

                                • Using the award winning scheme UKUELE MAGIC, the children will learn the fundamentals of good ukulele technique singing and playing both open string accompaniments and chords
                                1. UNIT 5: The Joy of Singing

                                  Annotations:

                                  • Complying to Covid safe rules, children will explore their voices in unison, round and harmony singing, paying attention to breath control, volume and pitch

                                    1. UNIT 8: UKULELE (B)

                                      Annotations:

                                      • The children will go further with their ukulele studies, learning simple finger picking, chords and Banjo technique for well known songs
                                      1. UNIT 7: Instruments from around the world

                                        Annotations:

                                        • The Children will listen to, learn about and play a range of ethnic and non-European, tuned and untuned instruments

                                            Annotations:

                                            • Along with a basic knowledge of the guitars evolution and history, the children will learn to read chord diagrams, learn basic left and right hand technique, simple two and three finger chords and strumming patterns.
                                            1. UNIT 10: Rock & Roll 1950-1970

                                              Annotations:

                                              • Children will learn about the rise of Blues music in mainstream culture and pop music. They will study the music of Elvis Presley and Nina Simone

                                                    Annotations:

                                                    • Along with a basic knowledge of the guitars evolution and history, the children will learn to read chord diagrams, complete basic left and right hand technique, simple two and three finger chords and strumming patterns
                                                    1. UNIT 12: The Spanish Classical Guitar 1850-1950

                                                      Annotations:

                                                      • The children will learn about the evolution of the modern classical guitar and specifically the Spanish Classical guitar from Torres, Francisco Tarrega, Andreas Segovia and John Williams
