  1. Lamarck
    1. acquired characteristics throughout a lifetime
      1. eg. a giraffe stretches its neck to reach the high leaves.
        1. It passes this on to its children.
          1. changes due to the environment
          2. much shorter process than Darwin's theory
          3. at that time there was no knowledge of genes
            1. so it was more difficult to disprove
              1. but eg. bodybuilder's children
                1. aren't born with bigger muscles
