The Eye
- Sclera - tough white outer layer which protects the eye
- Cornea - transparent part of sclera, bends light rays
- Choroid layer - contains black pigment which
prevents light reflecting within the eye
- Iris - gives colour to the eye, muscle which changes shape to
control how much light enters the eye
- Retina - inner most lining, contains rods and cones to
help us see in dark and light
- Lens - bends light rays to help focus them onto the fovea
- Vitreous humour - gel like, gives shape to the eye
- Pupil - hole in centre of iris, allows light enter
- Fovea - many cones present, point of most accurate vision
- Aqueous humour - watery liquid in front of lens, gives shape and nutrients
- Optic nerve - carries messages from the eye to the brain
- Suspensory ligaments - connect the lens to the cillary muscle
- Cillary muscle - help with accommodation (changing of lens shape)
- Blind spot - there's no rods or cones as this is where the optic nerve leaves the eye
