It happened very suddenly. The hook-nosed teacher looked past Quirrell's turban straight into Harry's eyes -- and a sharp, hot pain shot across the scar on Harry's forehead. "Ouch!" Harry clapped a hand to his head. "What is it?" asked Percy. "N-nothing." The pain had gone as quickly as it had come.

"Midnight on Saturday!" he said in a hoarse voice. "Oh no oh no -- I've just remembered -- Charlie's letter was in that book Malfoy took, he's going to know we're getting rid of Norbert."

Page 2

"Wow," said Ron. He sat and stared at Harry for a few moments, then, as though he had suddenly realized what he was doing, he looked quickly out of the window again.

Page 3

"Are all your family wizards?" asked Harry, who found Ron just as interesting as Ron found him. "Er -- Yes, I think so," said Ron. "I think Mom's got a second cousin who's an accountant, but we never talk about him."

Page 4

"Ah, Yes," he said softly, "Harry Potter. Our new -- celebrity."

Page 5

"Ah," said Hagrid, fiddling nervously with his beard, "That's er..." "Where did you get it, Hagrid?" said Ron, crouching over the fire to get a closer look at the egg. "It must've cost you a fortune."

Page 6

I suggest you make a start on these sweets. Ah! Bettie Bott's Every Flavor Beans! I was unfortunate enough in my youth to come across a vomitflavored one, and since then I'm afraid I've rather lost my liking for them -- but I think I'll be safe with a nice toffee, don't you?"

Page 7

He smiled and popped the golden-brown bean into his mouth. Then he choked and said, "Alas! Ear wax!" (Dumbledore)

Page 8

"Oh," said the boy, "I've heard of him. He's a sort of servant, isn't he?"

Page 9

"Oh, shut up," said Percy the Prefect.

Page 10

"Hmmm," said Mr. Ollivander, giving Hagrid a piercing look. "Well, now Mr. Potter. Let me see." He pulled a long tape measure with silver markings out of his pocket. "Which is your wand arm?" "Er -- well, I'm right-handed," said Harry.

Page 11

"Oh, Mom, can I go on the train and see him, Mom, eh please...." "You've already seen him, Ginny, and the poor boy isn't something you goggle at in a zoo. Is he really, Fred? How do you know?"

Page 12

Ron picked up a green bean, looked at it carefully, and bit into a corner. "Bleaaargh -- see? Sprouts." (disappointment)

Page 13

“Who are you?” “Dobby, sir. Just Dobby. Dobby the house-elf,” said the creature. “Oh—really?” said Harry. “Er—I don’t want to be rude or anything, but—this isn’t great time for me to have a house-elf in my bedroom.”

Page 14

Harry, trying to say “Shh!” and look comforting at the same time, ushered Dobby back onto the bed where he sat hiccoughing, looking like a large and very ugly doll. At last he managed to control himself, and sat with his great eyes fixed on Harry in an expression of watery adoration.

Page 15

"Oy, you there! Is this your toad?" said Hagrid, who was checking the boats as people climbed out of them. "Trevor!" cried Neville blissfully, holding out his hands.

Page 16

“Voldemort?” said Harry. Dobby clapped his hands over his bat ears and moaned, “Ah, speak not the name, sir! Speak not the name!”

Page 17

“So, does your dad know you’ve got the car?” said Harry, guessing the answer. “Er, no,” said Ron, “he had to work tonight. Hopefully we’ll be able to get it back in the garage without Mum noticing we flew it.”

Page 18

Mrs. Weasley was marching across the yard, scattering chickens, and for a short, plump, kind faced woman, it was remarkable how much she looked like a saber toothed tiger. “Ah,”  said Fred. “Oh, dear,” said George.

Page 19

“Ginny,” said Ron in an undertone to Harry. “My sister. She’s been talking about you all summer.” “Yeah, she’ll be wanting your autograph, Harry,” Fred said with a grin, but he caught his mother’s eye and bent his face over his plate without another word.
