People's ability to Delay Gratification

Delaying gratification is ultimately a self control issue Since you were young you either could not wait for something or you had the patience for it It more than likely has not changed In a study done, people who could delay gratification often: Were most successful in school Received good test scores on the SAT Were able to better cope with stress and frustration The study's test subjects were able to continue these differences People who could not delay gratification were more likely to have problems as adults, even drug abuse

This video goes over experiment done by Walter Mischel. It is a study that he started in the late 1960's and early 1970's to study a persona will power and self control

Take-Aways: Some people are good at delaying gratification others are not People who are not good at it will be more suggestible to images and messages of scarcity (limited stock, only available til the end of the month)
