There are different methods for measuring growth Length - involves just measuring the length or height of a plant or animal, advantages include the fact that it is easy to measure but disadvantages include it doesn't tell you changes in width Wet mass - involves weighing the plant or animal, advantages include the fact that it is easy to measure but disadvantages include wet mass changes depending on the recent activities of the organism Dry mass - involves drying out the organism before weighing it, advantages include the fact that it's not affected by the amount of water in a plant or animal, disadvantages include the fact that you have to kill and organism to work out the dry mass

Human growth has different phasesHumans go through five main phases of growth:Infancy - roughly the first 2 years of life, rapid growthChildhood - period between infancy and puberty, steady growthAdolescence - begins with puberty and finishes when body development and growth are complete, rapid growthMaturity/adulthood - period between adolescence and old age, growth stopsOld age - usually considered to be between age 65 and deathThe two main phases of rapid growth happen just after birth and during adolescence.

Certain parts of the body grown faster or slower than others Organisms don't grow evenly. At different times, different parts of the body will grow at different rates For example, when babies are developing in the womb, the brain, grows at a greater rate than the rest of the body
