GRAMMATICAL CATEGORIES

Grammatical morpheme may be either free roots(function words) or bound affixes (inflectional affixes).
Chapter 4 shows the distinction between lexical and grammatical morphemes.
Latin/Greek - synthetic language - grammatical categories are expressed by inflectional endings., whereas in analytics languages the grammatical categories are expressed by word order
Periphrasis-> Alicia's car or The lef of the table. Future tense in english is periphrasis.

Tense is a linguistic category whereas time is a category of the world
