Questão Responda
What is a monomer? A single repeating unit that joins together. / A molecule that can be bonded to other identical molecules to form a polymer.
What is a Polymer? A chain of individual units chemically bonded together.
What is the process that turns monomers into polymers? Polymerisation
Starch Test Iodine solution. (Brown → Blue / Black) = Starch
Glucose Test Benedict’s solution. {Heat it} (Blue → green → yellow → brick orange) =Glucose
Protein Test Biuret solution. (Blue → purple) = Protein
Lipids (Fat) Test ethanol and water. (Clear → Cloudy white) = Lipids
What is an Enzyme Enzymes are biological catalysts, they increase the rate of reactions, whilst remaining unchanged. The active site has a complementary shape to the specific food molecule. They vary with different food molecules and they can become denatured.
Enzymes with Temperature As the temperature increases meaning more molecules per unit time reach increasing energy. This means that the rate of reaction would change. The rate of reaction will reach an optimum and then the kinetic energy will increase to much that the enzymes will denature and the substrate won’t fit anymore.
Enzyme with Temperature Investigation - Marvel Milk Solution - Placed in different temperature water baths. - Time how long the MM Solution takes to turn clear.
Enzymes and pH As the pH changes molecules per unit time increases energy. This means that the rate of reaction would change. The rate of reaction will reach an optimum and then the kinetic energy will increase to much that the enzymes will denature and change the shape of the enzyme and the substrate meaning it won’t fit anymore.
Amylase Produced: Salivary glands, pancreas, small intestine Where reacted:In the Mouth and Small Intestine Reactants: Starch → sugars
Protease Produced: Stomach, pancreas, small intestine Where reacted:In the Stomach and Small Intestine Reactants: Proteins → amino acids
Lipase Produced: Pancreas and small intestine Where reacted: In the Small Intestine Reactants: Lipids → fatty acids + glycerol
