Act 1 Scene 1 Three witches meet on a heath in scotland. They discuss when theyll meet again. They agree to get together before sunset and meet Macbeth. They call out to their pet animals/Spirits and then repeat a chorus; "fair is foul and foul is fair, hover through fog and filty air. "
Act 1 Scene 2 King Duncan and his men have been busy fighting against the King of Norway and the traitor, Thane of Cawdor. Duncan proclaims that the traitor will be executed and Macbeth, responsible for the victory shall have the title Ross is sent to announce this news to Macbeth
Act 1 Scene 3 The three witches meet again on the Heath, and Macbeth and Banquo show up. Banquo speaks to them, they look inhuman, like they do not belong here on earth. They say that Macbeth will be crowned Thane of Cawdor, and then become King. They tell Banquo he will not become king, but he will father kings The witches dissapear, and Ross and Angus enter, and tell Macbeth he has just been given the Title Thane of Cawdor Macbeth thinks that the witches must be good if their prophesy came true. Macbeth and Banquo then agree they will talk about this later
Act 1 Scene 3 The king announces that his son Malcolm will be named prince of Cumberland, which places him next in line to be king. Macbeth thinks to himself again that murder will be the only way he can become king. Macbeth heads home, where everyone will celebrate this news at Macbeths castle.
Act 1 Scene 5 Lady Macbeth recieves a letter from Macbeth telling her of the news. Shes worried about him not being up for killing the current king in order to fulfil the prophesy. "too full o'th'milk of human kindness" Lady Macbeth decides she will use her charms to persuade Macbeth and Manipulate him She calls upon the spirits to unsex her, and and to undo all the features that make her a woman. Macbeth enters, and Lady Macbeth tells him that King Duncan will be spending the night but wont be waking up in the morning
Act 1 Scene 6 Duncan and his sons, Banquo and noblemen arrive at Macbeths Castle. Lady Macbeth greets them and says that they are greatful for the honours bestowed on Macbeth by the king. She tells the men to make themseleves at home, while secretly she is "like a serpent under't "
Act 1 Scene 7 Macbeth is thinking about the murder of Duncan. He has no good reason to kill him , he is such a gracious, humble king. Lady Macbeth enters. She questions his manhood, and lays out the plan to kill Duncan. She insists that Macbeth keeps his promise to kill the king. Therefore she means that is Mabeth cant keep his vow, he isnt a man Macbeth commends her for her strength, and he finally resolves to go through with the murder
Act 2 Scene 1 Banquo and his son Fleance are at the inner court. He says he cannot sleep. Macbeth enters with a servant, and Banquo tells him he dreamed about the witches, and Macbeth claims he hadnt been thinking about them , even though he has been plotting to kill Duncan. They promise to talk about it later Macbeth is left alone, and has a vision of a dagger that points towards Duncans Chamber. The dagger turns bloody and Macbeth says it is an image of his bloody thoughts. A bell rings, from Lady Macbeth which signals its time for him to kill Duncan
Act 2 Scene 2 Lady Macbeth is more determined than ever for the murder to proceed. She drugs Duncans Guards, and says if Duncan had not resembled her father, she would have went through with the murder herself.Macbeth then enteres with bloody hands. Lady Macbeth employs if you dont think about it, it will go away. But he is clearly disturbed as having murdered Duncan.Lady Macbeth takes the daggers from his hands, and smears the guards in blood to frame them.It is clear, Macbeth regrets killing Duncan, he says he wishes that all the knocking on the door would wake him from his eternal sleep.
