Simile Comparison of one thing with another to make a description more vivid "She was as soft as a snowflake"
Hyperbole Exaggerated statements not meant to be taken literally. "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse."
Onomatopoeia Words used to describe sounds. "Bang, smack, crash!"
Personification The attribution of a human characteristic to something nonhuman. "The fire waved and danced."
