Questão Responda
What is a Endangered Species? It is close to becoming extinct in all parts of a country or large locations.
What is a Extirpated Species? No longer living in one part of a country but can live in other parts.
What is a threatened Species? When a species is likely to become extinct.
What is a Special Concerned Species? Any species with low or declining number IN A RESTRICTED AREA.
What is a Indicator Species? A species that is sensitive to its environment and warns if the ecosystem is off or not right.
What is a Trophic Level? A trophic level is a category for how an organism gains its energy
What is a Autotroph? A producer, something that can create its own food. Found on the first trophic level.
What is a Heterotroph? A consumer, something that cannot create its own food, so it has to feed on other organisms. Found in other trophic levels.
Name what each Trophic Level is. Trophic level #4- Tertiary Consumer Trophic level #3- Secondary Consumer Trophic level #2- Primary Consumer Trophic level #1- Producer
What are Food Chains and Food Webs? Food chains and food webs show the flow of energy from one organism to the next.
How can Temperatures affect the number of organisms? Lower amount of sunlight + Cold temperatures = low producer population
What is Photosynthesis? Solar energy is converted into chemical energy.
What is Cellular Respiration? The process of oxidizing food molecules such as glucose to carbon dioxide and water. Chemical energy of sugar converted to chemical energy.
What is Chemosynthesis? Chemoautotrophs (bacteria) use an alternative energy source to create organic energy molecules.
Rule of 10 Only 10% of the energy transferred from one organism to another. Areas of loss: Waste, Thermal Energy, fuel for Cellular Respiration.
Laws of Thermodynamics. 1st law: Energy can be transferred from one organism to another, it cannot be created or destroyed. 2nd law: Energy transformations are never 100% efficient, some energy is lost (heat)
What is a Pyramid of Numbers? The number of organisms in a food chain that is represented graphically.
What is a Pyramid of Biomass? Shows the total dry mass of organisms at each trophic level of a food chain.
What is a Pyramid of Energy? Shows the total amount of energy transferred through each trophic level.
