Louis XVI Louis XVI (1754-1793) Louis was born at Versailles on 23 August. In 1770, he married Marie Antoinette, daughter of the emperor and empress of Austria, to consolidate an alliance between France and Austria. In 1774, Louis succeeded his grandfather Louis XV as king of France.
Queen Marie Antoinette Born in Vienna, Austria, in 1755, Marie Antoinette married the future French king Louis XVI when she was just 15 years old. The couple soon came to symbolize all of the excesses of the reviled French monarchy, and Marie Antoinette herself became the target of a great deal of vicious gossip.
Tennis Court Oath The Third Estate moved to a nearby indoor tennis court & swore that they would continue meeting until they had a new constitution.
Declaration of Rights of Man & Citizen On August 26, the National Assembly adopted the D.O.F.O.M.A.C. Inspired by the English Bill of Rights of 1699 & by the American Declaration of Independence & Constitution.
Maximilien Robespierre was a bourgeois, he identified with the cause of the urban workers, the sans-culottes as they came to be known, and became a spokesman for them. It is for this reason that he came to dominate the Revolution in its most radical phase
Reign of Terror The Committee of Public Safety took control of the government, to defend France from domestic threats, the Committee adopted the Reign of Terror.

Napoleon Bonaparte role in the F.R, he brought it to an end when he came to power in 1799
Versailles The Palace of Versailles is the central part of a complex that housed the French government, most notably its royalty, during the reigns of Louis XIV (France’s famed “Sun King”), Louis XV and Louis XVI. After the French Revolution in 1789, it ceased to be a permanent royal residence.
Storming of the Bastille occurred in Paris, France, on the morning of 14 July 1789. The medieval fortress and prison in Paris known as the Bastille represented royal authority in the centre of Paris.
