What are the two cells used in sexual reproduction called? Gametes
How many chromosomes does a gamete have and why? A Gamete has 23 chromosomes so that it can join with the other parent cell to have the right number of chromosomes for a normal body cell.
How does sexual reproduction produce vatiation? By combining chromosomes from both parent cells so that the new cell has a mixture of features from both parents.
How many divisions does meiosis involve? Two
Where does meiosis happen? In the reproductive organs
Describe the first division in meiosis 1) The DNA duplicates itself 2) The chromosomes line up in the center of the cell in pairs 3) The pairs get pulled to opposite sides of the cell
What is the difference between the first and second divisions in meiosis? In the second division, the DNA doesn't duplicate itself
