Questão Responda
What is afferent and efferent nervous system? Afferent is away from receptors, efferent is towards the effector
What ion transport method maintains the cells negative resting potential? Sodium - potassium pump.
Describe the process of an action potential and repolarization. Na+ channels opened by voltage of previous action potentials, Na+ floods into the cell making the cell +ve. K+ ions the flood back out of the cell due to K+ ions opening causing the cell to become negative again.

What is temporal and spatial summation? Temporal - several impulses in a period of time. Spatial several impulses from several parallel nerves connecting at one synapse.
what are the three mechanoreceptors? Proprioception, muscle spindles and joint receptors.
Give two thing that chemoreceptors might respond to changes in. H+ concentration (pH) CO2, K+
Describe the process of undertaking a movement. Sub-cortical and cortical motivation area sends a rough draft of the movement. Cerebellum and basal ganglia convert rough movement to movement plan. Motor cortex sends the message via the thalamus to the motor units which activate our muscles.
What is the role of the autonomic nervous system. What are the two branches of this system? what do each of them do? maintain stable internal environment. Sympathetic: excites Parasympathetic:inhibits
Exercise can enhance brain health, but how? Increase brain function decreasing risk of cognitive disease. it does this by enhancing learning and memory, stimulates the formation of new neurons, increases brain vascular function and flow, prevents mechanisms driving depression, reduces peripheral factors for cognitive decline (hypertension, inflammation, insulin resistance)
