Day of the Dead
- The Day of the Dead is a popular Mexican celebration to honor the
deceased. It takes place on November 2, although it starts to be
celebrated from the first day.
- On the Day of the Dead several activities are carried out, such as: offering, catrinas parades,
literary calaveritas, eating bread of the dead, among other things.
- In the offering they usually use various elements such as: food, personal
items, flowers, aromas, bow, among others.
- It is celebrated mainly on 1 and 2 November, although in some places it starts from
October 31, coinciding with the Catholic celebrations of All Souls' Day and All Saints
Day.
- Its origins predate the arrival of the Spaniards, who had a unitary conception of the soul, a
conception that prevented them from understanding that the natives attributed to each
individual several psychic entities and that each of them had, at death, a different destiny.
