Influenza
Influenza A and B are both caused by a Virus
Symptoms include chills, fever, malaise, headache
3-5 million people get the flu virus and the deaths are 250,000-350,000 and these deaths are either extremely young or elderly
You are highly infectious before you are aware that you have it
Acute strategy: Short term duration but high infectivity.
Candida Albicans
Caused by a fungi
Part of the normal microflora, meaning it can become an opportunistic pathogen
Causes a disgusting white rash that itches.
The disease is caused by overgrowth* and the disease load ie number of Candida increases
Cryptosporidium
Protozoan parasite that lives in water
Can not be killed by chlorination
Causes diarrhea is self-limiting in immunocompetent
Is chronic, acute onset, asymptomatic and humans are not a natural reservoir
Mycoterium Bacterium
Causes TB
Chronic infection and acute onset as well as a latent period
Body cant get rid so walls of infection area
