Dilation
- dilation means to resize something.
- When you dilate a figure, you will have two images, the orignal image, called the pre-image and the new resized image
- Image and shapes are when the only difference is sized
- If the scale factor is greater than 1 the image is an enlargement ( a stretch)
- If the scale factor is between 0 and 1 the image is a reduction (a shrink)
- All dilation have a center and a scale
- All dilation have a center and a scale
- Scale factor tells us how much the figure stretches or shrink
- The orignal figure is labeled ABC
- The dilated figure would be A' B' C'
- The dilated figure would be A' B' C'
