  1. Lyrical Poem

        1. IAMBIC PENTAMETER

                1. ITALIAN / PETRARCHAN
                  1. Two Parts: 1. OCTAVE (Rhyming a b b a a b b a) 2. SESTET (rhyming c d e c d e - with some variants)
                    1. OCTAVE sets the scene: problem / issue
                      1. SESTET provide solution / deeper meaning
                    2. ENGLISH / SHAKESPEAREAN
                      1. Three QUATRAINS (rhyming a b a b c d c d e f e f). Concluding or rhyming couplet (g g).
                        1. Three quatrains will deal with the setting of the problem. Introduce the theme of sonnet
                          1. Couplet (heroic couplet) deal with solution or summary
