Which increases the area on which
the cellular enzymes can respire
Anaerobic respiration
Doesn't use oxygen
glucose---->lactic acid(+energy)
Is when the glucose is not broken down entirely and therefore lactic acid is
produced
Is what happens when someone
exercises too intensely and muscles in
use cannot keep up with he exercise rate
so they start to not entirely break down
the glucose you might feel it when your
muscles suddenly feel lethargic
Called muscle fatigue
Oxygen debt
Is what is happening when you pant after
thorough exercise
When you exercise too fast for your
circulatory system to keep up actic acid is
produced but the but the body must get rid of
this build up in the muscles
So the body keeps you panting in order
to make up the lost oxygen as anaerobic
respiration is no where near as efficient
as aerobic respiration
Therefore oxygen debt is the amount of
oxygen needed to break down the lactic
acid that has built up into carbon dioxide
and water
The bigger the
oxygen debt the
longer you will be
puffing and panting
for
Not as efficient as aerobic respiration
Reasons for respiration
Keep body temperature
37oC
Using energy made from
respiration
Muscles
Growth
Contraction
Uses energy from respiration to carry out such
processes
Plants use this energy to make sugars, nitrates and nutrients
into amino acids
