Ferri & Smith: Modern Women
Acquired A Dual Burden
Though changes in position of women have resulted in
more women working, there is little evidence of "new
man" who does equal share of domestic work. Instead
women now have a dual burden.
Eg. After work, women will return home to
cook and wash and iron clothes, etc.
The dual burden counteracts arguments of the symmetrical
family. Men now simply benefit economically from women's
earnings from employment as well as domestic labour.
