3. Using another method can add more life

Curing
1. When you add salt, sugar, and nitrate
2. Easy method of preserving meat
3. Salt kills bacteria
4. Meat is hung in a cool dark place
Smoking
1. Similar to curing
2. Uses smoke and heat
3. Only last a few weeks
4. Adds a delicious flavor
Fermenting
1. Works great on veggies
2. 4-18 months
