A volcano is formed when two
techtonic plates move away from
each other leting maltern rock

An Ocean plate can slide under the continent plate plate
causing an earthquake. The Ocean plate slips under and
not the continent one because the Ocean plate is more
dense.
When two plates meet, they can either
go down into the maltern, or they can
push creating a hill or a mountain. This
is how mountains are formed
