Sprint Releases are TYPO3 versions which are released as quickly as possible in order to fix security issues.

Sprint Releases are maintained for at last 12 months.

Every Sprint Release is based on a merge window which is then followed by a stabilization phase.

TYPO3 version 7.4, as well as 8.0 and 8.1 are Sprint Releases.

Sprint Releases have scheduled release dates.

TYPO3 minor version updates can be executed in the Install Tool if the instance is not in “composer” mode.

The TYPO3 core can not be updated – you have to install it from scratch and migrate the content.

An update from TYPO3 version 7.6.20 to TYPO3 v9 LTS can be done directly.

The Scheduler contains a task, which keeps the TYPO3 core up-to-date automatically.

Every version update requires to lock the backend.
