We wanted to create our film based on a proverb because from the films we have researched, a lot of them have a meaning behind them. Or we discovered that if there was no hidden meaning it would be extremely creative and well put together, we felt as if a meaning/proverb would help us be a bit more creative and hopefully our audience will recognise it. If we didn't go with this idea it would have probably just come across as a five minute version of a feature length rather than a recognised short film.

Our main idea
Our main idea that we are pitching to others is based on the proverb 'bad news travels fast'. It is about a man who throughout his life has worked and worked to do good for his community and others, this will be shown through flashbacks as he flicks through his scrapbook of newspaper clippings that show these good deeds. However there will be indications of something bad happening, he will be rugged, scruffy, in a dressing gown, unshaven and just generally looking worn down, other elements such as sound will be included to show the audience he is having memories of this bad event such as car screeches (this is an example as we are yet to decide what the incident will actually be). Eventually the audience find out what has happened through the newspaper that just comes through the letter box, it will highlight that this is a very recent event and we are also going to use other ways to show how quickly the news travels such as text messages coming through and probably a radio. It has another meaning which is that you can do as many good things as humanly possible however one bad accident can change people's opinions just like that.

Back up idea
If this fails we have a back up idea. This is 'eat well, train hard, die anyway'. The title is pretty obvious as to what the meaning is but it is about a man who works and works to stay fit to the point that it is his life and it takes over, an unfortunate, sudden event happens with a tragic ending, meaning that you can be as healthy and obsessed as you want but it death is inevitable and by doing it your not guaranteed a long healthy life. Is it really worth that amount of time and dedication.

My own idea
I came up with my own idea to pitch to my group in case we couldn't come up with one. This is based on the proverb 'jack of all trades, master of none'. It would be about a man or a woman who pretty much knows how to do everything and specifically is always boasting about it however they get into a situation where they need to know how to do something extremely well, to a professional extent and although the person can do everything (with boundaries) they aren't deeply skilled in anything.
