Slide 2

    Understanding the goal setting process
WHY? SMART goals provide you with a clear and focused target to work towards. By defining specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound objectives, you know exactly what you need to accomplish and can stay motivated and on track. When you have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish and understand the steps needed to get there, you are more likely to persevere and overcome obstacles along the way. Moreover, when you are actively involved in setting your own goals, you feel a sense of agency and control over your academic progress, which can increase your motivation and commitment to achieving success.

Slide 3

Take the time to reflect on this process in terms of how it applies to your own situation. Understanding and following this process is an important element when you are ready to set goals. For homework, you are going to create your own mind map like the example presented here to present your SMART goals.  Remember to share your mind maps in our group to start a discussion with the rest of the class. Any further questions, please write on the comments section.
