NHL Jersey Quiz

These first 6 questions will not require a city, just a team name. Long before the Sharks, the [blank_start]Golden Seals[blank_end] used teal as a primary color for their jersey. Eschewing the colors they shared with an Oakland baseball team, and a Memphis basketball team.

The [blank_start]Flyers[blank_end] added long pants in lieu of the traditional socks and short pants to their NHL uniforms in the 1980s, however these caused players to slide further and faster on the ice when they took a spill. In response the league banned long pants starting in the 83-84 season.

Forty years before the NHL's third jersey program gave five different teams a second jersey to wear at home, the [blank_start]Bruins[blank_end] brought out their own third jersey, a first for the league in the 1950s.

Over sixty years before the Sabres put the player numbers on the chest of jerseys, the [blank_start]Rangers[blank_end] had their team name arched over a large player number on the front of their jerseys. An unpopular look, it only lasted for one season.

Long before teams started to put player names on the back of home jerseys. And a full fifty one years before the league mandated it. The [blank_start]Americans[blank_end] experimented with putting player names on the backs of jerseys between the shoulders. It only lasted a single season, and the idea wasn't used again for four decades.

After being so popular as one of the five charter teams in the third jersey program the league put into place. The [blank_start]Mighty Ducks[blank_end] added a fourth jersey to their lineup in the late 90's, a first for any NHL team.

In a not terribly popular move, only four NHL teams have had land-masses as a signature part of their jersey for one or more seasons.

These six teams have been the only ones in the NHL to have work a state, providence, or country flag on a regular jersey at some point or another. This does not include special single-game jerseys.
