Question
THE FAMILY PICNIC My cuckoo clock wakes me up at 7 am in the morning. It's a Sunday and why do I need to get up so early? Ah...I remember! Today we have a [blank_start]family[blank_end] picnic. I can see my [blank_start]mother[blank_end] preparing a huge basket full of food. “There’s good bacon, ham and eggs. There’s bread and marmalade. Some mashed potatoes with peas, and fish and chips,” she says. “Yummy! Looks like a good breakfast, mum”, I say. My [blank_start]father[blank_end] is busy at the cellar getting drinks for the day. “[blank_start]Son[blank_end], I’ve put in your favourite drink too,” he says. “Orange juice? Yes!” I say excitedly. [blank_start]Grandfather[blank_end] enters my room to tell me that we are going to the river bank to have a gorgeous day out. [blank_start]Grandmother[blank_end] is very happy as the weather is just perfect. The sun is shining bright as ever and there is a cool breeze in the trees. She calls out to my mother, "[blank_start]Daughter[blank_end], please make sure we take the ice box along. It's going to be warm today." My [blank_start]baby sister[blank_end] is very happy too. She’s not crying at all today. She’s smiling away. My [blank_start]parents[blank_end] are quite happy about that. My [blank_start]aunt[blank_end] and [blank_start]uncle[blank_end] are also joining us today. I’m my aunt’s favourite [blank_start]nephew[blank_end]. And my uncle loves my [blank_start]sister[blank_end] more. She’s his favourite [blank_start]niece[blank_end]. I’m so happy that my [blank_start]cousin[blank_end] is coming along too. He’s elder to me but likes to play with me. How about a good game of football with him? I'm thinking already. Maybe we can team up against the big [blank_start]brothers[blank_end] - my dad and my uncle. My [blank_start]grandparents[blank_end] like my cousin too. But my grandmother says, “I love all our [blank_start]grandchildren[blank_end] just the same.” They have one [blank_start]granddaughter[blank_end] and two [blank_start]grandsons[blank_end] including me. See you at the picnic!
