    Long Bones
    - Longer then they are wide - Each end of the bone there is a joint  - Important in movement and physical support    Examples: - Humerus - Femur - Phalanges

    Flat Bones
    - Usually thin and sometimes have a curved shape - Protect internal organs - Many of them have broad surfaces for the attachment of              muscles   Examples: - Cranial bones - Sternum - Ribs - Scapula

    - Vary in shape - Some protect organs while others attach to tendons - Usually classified in this category when criteria for the other         bones are not met   Examples: - Patella - Vertebrae
