Previously I constructed research on production companies, I found that we was going to be in association with Insurge Pictures, due to the fact the fact that they primarily produce micro-budget films budget based on it's parents companies success in the film 'Paranormal Activity'. The institution was founded in 2010 so it's relatively new, it still includes successful films such as; 'Justin Bieber Never Say Never', and 'The Devil Inside', which turned over more than one billion US dollars together. Hopefully our film will start out with a small fan base due the fan base already created as a result of the institutions success.
It would be preferred if a major film company was to distribute for it would be able to reach a mainstream audience. This would also be ideal as we have conformed to many of key codes and conventions giving our product a greater chance of success ergo having a large film distributor such as Universal Studios Inc distribute our film will help the product reach a winder audience as well as the target audience of 18-28 year old's.considering that we have created a Thriller film, it would be preferable if Twisted Pictures was to distribute our film due to their success in Horror/Thriller movies [dead silence, SAW film serious] and the fan base that our media product will attract from their reputation. However, seeing that Hammer films is a film distributer based in the UK having distributed famous Thrillers such as The Woman In Black, this would be the most realistic option and would also work to our advantage as there characters in our film are British as for the location.
Our film would be exhibited in small UK cinemas, who will be willing to exhibit a low-budget film. Cinemas such as; 'Cine-world', 'Vue', and 'Odeon' are known as 'mainstream' cinemas and are likely to be more interested in high-budget Hollywood blockbusters that would attract more audience members. As well as that we wouldn't be able to compete with the high-budget films in marketing our film as it would likely be shown at off peak times if we were to try and get the mainstream cinemas to exhibit our film.
Due to the small budget and marketing available we will promote our film to our target audience on a small marketing program. We plan to use social media and the different platforms that are available. Advertisement on Facebook and Instagram mean that people can know about our product by just simply scrolling through their social media. Hashtags and trends on Twitter mean that new information spreads quickly which would be good for our film as social media is very popular with 15-25 year olds. This will also help in giving feedback for our film with information available such as how many people are talking about our film and what they have to say.
