Examples of dark patterns Sneak into Basket, Hidden (surprising) Costs, Hidden subscription, Limited-time Messages, Confirmshaming, Visual Interference, Trick Questions, Pressures Selling, Social Proof, Low-Stock messages, Obstructions, Forced action
Post Truth Characteristics "Alternative facts" replace actual facts Feelings have more weight than evidence (Beweis) Experts have seem to have lost authority
Perspectism Only alternative is a position called "perspectivism" We agree on things not because propositions are "objectivly true", but by virtue of sharing the same perspective
What are Simplicity, Confirmation Bias & the Endowment Effect in terms of human perception? Simplicity: People are more willing to accept ideas they readily understand -> easier explantation will therefore win out Confirmation Bias: People are more willing to accept evidence in line with what they believe Endowment Effect: People attach emotional value to beliefs -> difficult to change views/minds
