uterine muscle tone
inhibits flexion of the legs
& free moving of the
mobile fetus .
- Vaginal Birth is able
to be carried out, if
progress is made &
no signs of fetal
compromise
presents
- 2. Footling Breech 10-30%
single footling=
incomplete breech
- one or both ffet extend past
infants butt, into womans
vagina, not advised for HB
- high risk of premature
urge to push, prompt
ROM & cord prolapse,
dilation is often
ineffective because
resenting part does not
apply pressure uniformly
- 3. Complete Breech 5-10%
both hips & knees are flexed
with both feet above the
infants buttocks
(cannonball position)
- presenting part is the infants
buttocks more irregular presenting
shape does not fill pelvis as fully, &
is more compressible making it
some what inefficient dilation
- 4. Kneeling Breech/
Knee presenting
breech, rare type
- presented with one or both hips
extended, not advised for HB, due to
inefficient dilation, unregular
pressure
- Risk: premature urge to
push, prompt ROM/ Cord
prolapse
