- AIM: prevent further bleeding by creating blood clots
- Vessel constriction --> Platelet plug --> Fibrin plug
- Acute Inflammation
- Neutrophils + Macrophages remove debris from injury
- Clinical signs of inflammation present
- Proliferation
- Granulation tissue formation + Replacement of epithelial cells
- Macrophages produce growth factors --> proliferation of epithelial cells + fibroblasts
- Restores normal function & structure
- Wound Maturation & Remodelling
- When inflammation has finished & new tissue has formed
- Granulation tissue is replaced by mature connective tissue
