Frage Antworten
What must be done in preparation for a stroke pathway patient? Hold the scanner and notify the radiologist.
What recons are done on a perfusion scan? Include an axial COW at 1x1 if the automatically generated axial is not aligned to the hard palate. No 3D recons are required.
What is the minimum time allowed between the head/neck angio and the perfusion scan and why? 3 minutes to allow the contrast to clear.
What should be written on a perfusion scan request? ? Stroke, Positive FAST or For Stroke Pathway
Where should the tracker be placed for a head venogram and why? Around C2 with the tracker in the back fat to avoid accidental triggering by bone.
How might a non-con head change a perfusion pathway? If there is a bleed on the non-con head, further imaging may not be needed as the clinical question is answered.
What is the typical indication for a head venogram? (Cerebral) venous sinus thrombosis - clots in the dural venous sinuses which drain blood from the head.
When should a head venogram be triggered? As soon as contrast is seen in either the carotid or vertebral arteries.
What is a typical indication for a head angiogram? ? Aneurysm.
Explain tracker and trigger of a head angiogram. Place the tracker at C2 in the back fat and trigger when contrast is seen in either the carotid or vertebral arteries.
Give details on tracker and trigger for a post con/dual phase neck. No tracker or trigger is used to save dose. Instead, the scan is automatically triggerered after 86 seconds.
With a post con head, what length of time should elapse from injection before triggering the scan? About 5 minutes.
What are two typical indications for a dual phase neck? Malignancy and abscess.
Where should the tracker be placed for an arterial phase neck? At the aortic arch.
What is the scan field for an arterial phase neck? Aortic arch to above orbits.
What area should be scanned for an abdominal angiogram? From above the diaphragm to the femoral heads.
What adjustments can be made to the timing of an abdominal angiogram and why? Change the timing to 10 seconds if a large heart is identified.
What phases should be included when querying an abdominal bleed? Non-con, late arterial and delayed.
What phases are included on a pancreas protocol? Non-con, venous and late arterial.
Define the areas that should be imaged on a pancreas scan. Non-con - upper abdomen. Venous - medial costophrenic angle to below kidneys. Late arterial - medial costophrenic angle to symph.
What preparation is needed for a pancreas scan? One cup of water 10 minutes prior to scanning and one immediately prior to scanning.
Why is a non-con pancreas performed? To look for pancreatic calcification.
What is a FAST test? Face, arms, speech test
