What did flagellants believe and therefore do? They believed the plague was sent by God. They walked in procession to church, whipping themselves, to show they were sorry and ask for his mercy.
What did people believe about the planets and whay caused the plague? An unusual positioning of the planets, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. (event among the stars and planets were thought to have affect on earth.
What 'outsiders' did people believe cause the plague? Strangers or witches.(In europe they believed Jews were the case and banned them).
what natural occurances did they believe caused the plague? Poisonous fumes from volcanoes and earthquakes.
Did they believe the four humours caused the plague? Yes. They believed an imbalance in the four humours caused the plague.
What was miasma, and did they believe it caused the plague? Bad air(miasma) from decyaing refuse, spread through movements in the air, which people believed caused the plague.
why didnt the epidemic of disease spread out the country. Because people in medieval times lived in small villages and didn't travel far.
How many people died from the outbreak of the plague? One third of the population.
