Authenic Assessment
1. Assesses students' abilities to perform real-world tasks based on standards and evaluated by a rubric.
2. Students would demonstrate social skills by showing appropriate body language during a conversation.
3. Traditional Assessments
  1. More conventional method of testing. Tests a certain body of knowledge and skills.
  2. Students would be tested by standardized tests, true/false, matching, and fill in the blanks.

Ongoing Assessment
1. Portfolios
  1. Display case of students' work.
  2. Pair teachers with ELL teachers to assess work.
  3. Should be:
    1. Predetermined
    2. Informative
    3. Tailored
    4. Comprehensive
    5. Authenitic
  4. Students help select the artifacts that are included, and they self assess.
2. Provides continuous feedback.
3. quizzes, essays, reports or informal observations of language and literacy
