Prediction of response to CT and medication in the treatment of moderate to severe depression

Annotations:

•  - to identify variables that are related to response to both treatments as well as variables that predict superior response to one treatment over another.

Annotations:

•  - prognostic: variables that predicts an outcome regardless of the treatment (someone who is severely depressed compared to the rest of subjects)  - prescriptive (moderator): predicts a different pattern of outcomes between two, or more treatment modalities. (when two treatments don't really differ there is something in pre-treatment that is making one tretment more effective.)

Annotations:

•  - age predicted poor response results  - chronic depression was a negative predictor for amount of relief but a positive predictor for completion of treatment.  -
•  - CT was more effective than meds in treatment ofpeople who have multiple life events/ or ar married/cohabitating and are unemployed.  -
