    1. Systolic - Top number - Heart contracts - Biggest number
      1. Diastolic - Bottom number - Heart relaxes - Smallest number
        1. Measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg)
          1. Increased blood pressure: Stress, Smoking, Poor diet, Overweight
            1. Can cause: Strokes, Burst blood vessels, kidney damage, brain damage
            2. Decreasing blood pressure: Eating healthy, regular exercise
              1. Consequences: Faint, Dizzy, Poor Circulation

              1. Arteries - carry blood away from the heart and to the body
                1. Veins - Carry blood back to the heart
                2. Smoking
                  1. Increases blood pressure
                    1. CARBON MONOXIDE - combines with haemoglobin in red blood cells - reduces the amount of oxygen carried - heart beats faster to get more oxygen around the body
                      1. NICOTINE - is a stimulant - increases the heart rate
