Columbus was an explorer. It is claimed that he was the first person to land on America although that fact is regularly challenged.

Evidence suggests Leif Erikson was the first explorer to discover America.

While the discovery of America would be considered a success itself, Columbus was imprisoned on his return for failing to uncover gold and riches that he had promised.

Columbus sailed with hundreds of sailors that were given to him by the Queen of Spain. His three ships were called the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria.

Columbus was Italian and was born in Genoa.

I am still undecided on the whether Christopher Columbus discovered America or not.

Was Columbus a successful explorer or tormentor of native Americans.

It cannot be argued he possessed great navigational skills to achieve what he did.

More research needed to fully understand his past as a great explorer.
