A gene occupies a fixed position on a strand of DNA, this is called a locus.

Genes: sections of DNA that contain coded information due to specific bases.

Genes code for polypeptides and determine the nature and development of an organism

T

The base sequence of genes can change due a mutation- this causes an allel

A sequence of 3 gene bases (triplet code) codes for a specific amino acidAmino acids make up polypeptides

Eukaryotes:A lot of DNA doesnt code for anything.these are called introns.Differences in genes and alleles might result in non-functional proteins/ enzymes.
