Effect of exercise on the skeletal system
Long Term: Slowing the loss of calcium, so fights bone deterioration
Helps bones remain strong.
Bones less likely to break under pressure.
Particularly relevant in triple jump where lots of pressure is put on the Fibula and Tibia.
Short Term: Aching Joints
Particularly relevant for athletes going through intensive training
Occurs after a strenuous session.
Could lead to fractures, torn cartilage, and breaks from the pressure.
Long Term: Increase bone density, offsetting the risk of Osteoperosis
Increased bone density through exercise.
Increases bone strength.
Relevant for basketball players after landing from a lay up.
Long Term: Strengthening of the tendons and ligaments, stabalising joints.
Strengthen the tendons and ligaments around your joints.
Decreases chances of dislocation.
Relevant for rugby players as they are less likely to suffer from a dislocation after a hard tackle.
