Camel Adaptation
Thick lips-eat cacti, hump with fat to break to
glucose-water in respiration, big feet-traction,
ling eyelashes-sandstorms, body temperature
regulates, ears lined with fur-sand, nostrils
can close.
Polar bear adaptation
Black skin-absorbs heat, sharp teeth,
large feet-not much pressure, thick fur,
ears lay flat on head whilst swimming,

Cacti adaptation-hot climate
Stems that can store water. Widespread
root systems that can collect water from
a large area. cacti have spines instead of
leaves. These minimise the surface area
and so reduce water loss by
transpiration. The spines also protect the
cacti from animals that might eat them.
Cold climate plants
Small plants and shallow root systems
compensate for the thin layer of soil,
and small leaves minimize the amount
of water lost through the leaf surface.
Plants grow close to the ground and to
each other, this helps to resist the
effects of cold weather and reduce
damage caused by wind-blown snow
and ice particles. Fuzzy coverings on
stems, leaves, and buds and woolly
seed covers provide additional
protection from the wind.
