  1. subcutaneous
    1. up to 2 ml ( ≤1 ml preferred)
      1. 23 - 27 gauge needle or smaller
        1. upper arm, thigh and abdomen
          1. not used for thick suspensions
            1. Insulin
            2. Intramuscular
              1. 0.5 to 2 ml, sometimes 4 ml
                1. 20 - 25 gauge needle
                  1. Gluteal, Deltoid, Vastus lateralis
                    1. Solutions, Emulsions, Oils or Suspensions
                    2. Intravenous
                      1. 1 to 1000 ml
                        1. 19 - 20 gauge needle
                          1. ≤ 5ml → 1ml/10sec > 5ml → 1ml/20sec
                          2. Aqueous solutions, Emulsions (o/w with controlled globule size
                            1. Venoclysis: IV infusion of large volume (100 to 1000 ml)
                              1. IV Admixture: Combination of parenteral dosage forms for admixture as a unit product
