Area around the North Pole- Ice is
melting and permafrost is moving
north and shrinking and so is the tree line
Environmental Impacts- ice melting means
more water in the sea cause change in density
and ocean currents loosing natural sinks
because of loss of permafrost
Ecological Impacts- habitats are being reduced and
lost there are few species so could cause devastating
effects. As sea ice coverage is reduced temperatures
increase
Socio-economic impacts- could open new
shipping routes in the summer new natural
resources may be found increase opportunities for
farming and forestry.
