Question Answer
What are the 2 types of nervous System? Central Nervous System Peripheral Nervous System
The CNS consists of The Spinal Cord and Brain
The Spinal Cord contains Grey Matter - processes info White Matter - carries info
What are the 4 major regions of the Brain? -Cerebrum -Cerebellum -Diencephalon -Brain Stem
The Brain Stem contains - Medulla Oblongata (cardio, respiratory) - Pons (regulates breathing) - Midbrain (eye, hearing)
What does the Cerebellum Control? Movement and positioning in space. Contraction of skeletal muscle
What does the Cerebrum control? -Conscious thought - Somatic senses and motor info
The Diencephalon contains... -Thalamus (pain, temp, touch) - Hypothalamus (homeostasis) - Limbic System (emotions)
What protects the CNS? -Meninges - Cerebral Spinal Fluid - Blood Brain Barrier (only brain)
What is the Blood Brain Barrier? Tightly packed endothelial cells which the brain is suspended in.
The CNS is split into 2 divisions which are? - Afferent (Sensory) - Efferent (Somatic and Autonomic)
