What happens if you don't have a balanced diet? You become malnouished. Which is when you do not have enough the correct minerals and vitamins in your body.
What problems can obesity have in the long term? Type 2 Diabetes and other health problems to do with weight
LDL or HDL, Which is the worse type of Cholesterol? LDL , or Low Density lipoprotien is the worse type, and causes heart attacks as it blocks ateries and the heart has to work too hard to pump enough blood
How can a person lower their cholesterol(LDL) levels? Exercise, eating a more balanced diet with less cholesterol rich foods such as butter and other foods high in fat.
How to pathogens make you feel unwell? Either by releasing toxins(poisons) that make you feel unwell, or by damaging cells.
What did semmelwiess do to try and prevent disease? Asked his staff to wash their hands between patients. This worked as it stopped the disease from being tranferred via the dirt on people hands.
How are many pathogens prevented from entering the body? The skin stops many pathogens from entering as the pathogens cannot pass through a medium that does not have small enough holes in it.
How do white blood cells enter the body? 1. They can ingest them, and kill them by digesting them 2. They produce anti-bodies which help destroy specific pathogens 3.They produce anti-toxins that counter the toxins released by the pathogens
Why are antibiotics only able to kill bacteria? Viruses are inside the body cells.
Why do some pathogens spread rapidly They can mutate which makes them different to stop . So the memory cells cannot recognise the pathogen. This makes them spread rapidly and cause a pandemic, and nobody is immune it instantly.
How does natural selection cause some pathogens become immune to certain antibiotics? They mutate to not be affected by them,.
What is meant by vaccination? Dead or weakened forms of the bacteria are injected into the blood to make the white blood cells create anti-bodies and memory cells so that it becomes immune to that specific bacteria.
