What is a leading question? A question which, because of the way it is phrased, suggests a certain answer.
Who did an experiment into Post-event discussion? Gabbert
What was the procedure in Gabbert's experiment? studied participants in pairs. each participant watched a video of the same crime but from different angles. Then asked to discuss and do a recall test.
What did Gabbert find? 71% of the participants mistakenly recalled aspects that they did not see but were picked up in the discussion
What a strength of Loftus and Palmer's study? Police officers need to be very careful about how they phrase their questions when interviews eyewitnesses. It can make an important differences in the legal system
What is a limitation of Loftus and Palmer's experiment? The tasks were artificial and lacked the stress or a real accident because the had to 'watch' a car accident.
What is another limitation to Loftus and Palmer's experiment? Participants do not want to let the researcher down so will just say what they think the researcher will want to hear. This is demand characteristics.
