    1. Clearly explain what you want to achieve and ensure your target is specific and relevant
      1. Specific- I want to improve my pass completion percentage
        1. Vague- I want to get better at hockey
        2. Measurable
          1. Set measurable targets so you can track your progress and measure if your target has been achieved
            1. Measurable- I want to improve my 50-km time by five mins
              1. Unmeasurable- I want to get better at cycling
              2. Achievable
                1. Set targets that you have the ability to reach. Unattainable targets are demotivating and result in failure
                  1. Achievable- i want to improve my shooting accuracy by 10%
                    1. Unachievable - I want my shooting accuracy yo be 100%
                    2. Realistic
                      1. Realistic- I want to train 3 days a week
                        1. Unrealistic- I want to train 7 days a week
                          1. Ensure your target is realistic for you personally. Factors such as work and hobbies, affect your ability to meet your targets.
                          2. Timed
                            1. Not Timed - i want to improve my swimming
                              1. Create a time frame for you to achieve your targets. set an end point as a deadline for achieving your final goal. Establishing a timescale can also help you stay focused
                                1. Timed - I want to beat my personal best within 2 months
