Food chain
  1. SUN
    1. Producer
      1. Primary consumer
        1. secondary consumer
          1. Top carnivore
            1. A predator is an animal that eats other animals, and the prey is the animal that gets eaten by the predator. In the food chain above: the frog is a predator and the grasshopper is its prey. the hawk is a predator and the frog is its prey.
            2. Next come organisms that eat the autotrophs; these organisms are called herbivores or primary consumers -- an example is a rabbit that eats grass. The next link in the chain is animals that eat herbivores - these are called secondary consumers -- an example is a snake that eat rabbits.
            3. Next come organisms that eat the autotrophs; these organisms are called herbivores or primary consumers -- an example is a rabbit that eats grass. The next link in the chain is animals that eat herbivores - these are called secondary consumers -- an example is a snake that eat rabbits.
            4. Plants are called producers. This is because they produce their own food! They do this by using light energy from the Sun, carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil to produce food - in the form of glucouse/sugar.
