a binocular cue to depth, the greater the difference between
the view seen by the left eye and the right eye, the closer the
viewer is looking
people have a 'dominant
eye'
some of the information from each eye crosses into the other half of the head at the optic
chiasma, the brain can then compare the information from both eyes
when we are looking at something far away, the 2 images are very similar
but when we are looking at something very close to us, the views of the left
and right eye are more different, the brain can judge how different to 2
images are
if there is a lot of overlap between the left and right images, we might be
looking at something far away - the greater the difference between the view of
the 2 images, the closer the object we are looking at
