  1. Key long term adaptations
    1. Increase stroke volume
      1. Increase Cardiac Output
        1. More red blood cells
          1. Increase in myoglobin
            1. Decrease in body fat
              1. Increaase bodys ability to utilise lactic acid
                1. Increased ventricular myocardium
                  1. Increased energy stores
                    1. Increased nuscle mass
                    2. Different methods of training
                      1. Continous training; used mainly for developing endurance and aerobic energy system
                        1. Interval training; this is work followed by periods of rest with a (W:R) ratio
                          1. Plyometric training; this is power training invloving eccentric to concentric muscle contractions at 100% designed to improve elastic strength
                            1. Circuit training; a series of exercises performed in order. Can be fitness or sport specifc stations
                              1. Weight training; exercising with variable resistance. Can improve muscular endurance, dynamic and maximal strength, power and posture.
                                1. Speed trainign; types of speed training include hollow sprints, acceleration sprints
                                  1. SAQ; involves training the neuromuscular system to make movements more automatic and explosive
                                  2. Periodisation and examples
                                    1. Periodisation; refers to the organised approach to training to maximise fitness at key times.
                                      1. The entire period is known as a MACROCYCLE
                                        1. Macrocycle spilts into MESOCYCLE
                                          1. Mesocycles is then split into MICORCYCLE
                                      2. Cycle could be four years for Olympics
